York County Approves $5.52 Million Deal To Build Catawba Bend Preserve’s Front Entrance

York County Council has just approved a $5.5 million contract with Wiley Easton Construction Co. to build the new front entrance at the Catawba Bend Preserve.

During this past Monday’s county council meeting, the board specifically; “2. Approved award regarding Bid #2932 for the Catawba Bend Preserve Phase 1 Construction project, to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Wiley Easton Construction Co., Inc. of Lexington SC, for a total cost of $5,520,363.75, to include contingency.”

The scope of the work specifically includes the front entrance gate, landscaping around the entrance, the paving of the road coming into the preserve, a fee station, parking lot, and bathrooms.

York County originally bought roughly 1,900 acres of land for the preserve in 2018, including almost five miles of river frontage.

The new preserve sits just East of downtown Rock Hill and on the other side of the river from the sprawling Sun City community.

 

It’s now expected to officially open by the end of next year.
