Wegmans has officially acquired 14.32 acres in Ballantyne for their long-anticipated first ever Charlotte location.

The legendary family-owned grocer from Rochester, New York, finalized its purchase of two parcels for nearly $15.8 million. These properties, acquired from NP BCP Land and NW Offices on Six, are tied to developer Northwood Investors.

The site will host a 110,000-square-foot Wegmans store, marking the company’s first venture into the Charlotte market. Located along North Community House Road, the store will be just under half a mile from The Bowl at Ballantyne. This upcoming mixed-use development will feature notable tenants such as Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, North Italia, Flower Child, Harriet’s Hamburgers, and Roosters. These establishments are slated to open later this year, adding to the area’s vibrant appeal.

Wegmans has set a targeted opening for the Ballantyne location in the third quarter of 2026. The new store reflects the grocer’s commitment to expanding its footprint beyond its current 88 locations across New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Virginia.
