A South Carolina elementary school teacher has just been arrested for drug possession and attempt to distribute on school grounds.

Horry County police arrested 50-year-old Aaron Graydon Musick on Monday, charging him with possession with intent to distribute drugs near a school and manufacturing, distribution, and possession of narcotics. Musick, a physical education teacher at Waterway Elementary in Little River, submitted his resignation to district administrators Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to the school around 10:12 a.m. Friday after staff discovered a vial containing a white powdery substance in a backpack inside Musick’s office. Authorities later confirmed the substance weighed approximately 5.23 grams. During a further search, staff found a straw containing the same substance and multiple prescription pill bottles with mismatched medications inside Musick’s desk, the police report states.

Staff members had grown concerned over Musick’s behavior, noting he appeared “disheveled,” frequently late, and “in an altered state of mind.”

Musick was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on two felony drug charges. His case remains under investigation, and authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
