The Belmont Trolley Project has received a significant boost, given them just enough funds to officially launch the highly anticipated project.
Gaston County just donated $100,000 in tourism funds, following the approval of the Gaston County Tourism Advisory Board and the unanimous support of the County Board of Commissioners. This contribution brings total funding to nearly $2 million, allowing the first phase of the Belmont Trolley Station to begin.
The downtown station will eventually house three trolleys and feature a local rail history museum, aiming to connect communities and boost tourism and economic growth.
The Carolina Thread Trail will run parallel to the trolley rail line in key areas, creating a network of trails for visitors to explore by bike or on foot. Increased foot traffic along the trolley line is expected to benefit local shops, restaurants, and businesses, enhancing the region’s appeal and supporting economic development.
