Charlotte is about to host the official kick off of college football season with ESPN’s College GameDay for the 3rd time in history .
The live GameDay broadcast will take place in Romare Bearden Park ahead of this year’s epic rivalry match between the Gamecocks and the Tar Heels. The rivalry that started in 1903 has the Tar Heels leading with 35 wins in 59 games, but the Gamecocks recently won 8 of 11, including a 38-21 victory in 2021.
The game starts at 7:30 p.m. at Bank of America Stadium (you can find tickets here) and ESPN’s GameDay festivities will kick off in Romare Bearden park at 9am, with possible hosts including; Steve Coughlin, Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, and Lee Corso.
Here’s how you can join the ESPN GameDay pit access:
- Entry is first-come, first-serve; wearing school colors is encouraged.
- Fans can bring signs (no vulgarity, no promotions, no political/religious content, no poles).
- Prohibited items: bags, food, writing instruments. No throwing objects.
- Pit opens 6:30 a.m. with the live broadcast at 9 a.m. on ESPN. Fan Fest starts at noon, with stadium gates opening at 5:30 p.m. before the game’s kickoff.
