Starting Thursday, February 15 and running through March 2nd, North Carolina voters will have the opportunity to cast their ballots early for the 2024 primary election.
This early voting period allows residents to cast their ballots at any of the more than 340 early voting sites set up across the state, ahead of the official primary election day on March 5th.
Early voting has increasingly become the preferred method for many voters in North Carolina, demonstrating a significant trend towards early participation. During the 2020 presidential primary, 36% of the electorate opted for early voting, a figure that slightly rose to 39% in the 2022 primary. This method continues to be the most favored among voters for general elections, highlighting its importance in the state’s electoral process.
“In-person early voting is one of the ways voters can cast ballots securely in North Carolina,” said State Board of Elections executive director Karen Brinson Bell in a press release. “The bipartisan election officials who work at each early voting site are prepared for a smooth voting process and to ensure the ballots of eligible voters are counted.”
The availability of early voting aims to make the voting process more accessible and convenient, offering flexibility for those unable to vote on the designated election day. With a wide network of early voting locations, North Carolina is committed to ensuring that all eligible voters have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming primary election.
