NBA star Stephen Curry may soon join the ranks of Billy Graham, Dale Earnhardt, and Bruton Smith in having a public NC road named after him.
The Town of Davidson is currently weighing a proposal to rename a section of I-77 in honor of the local basketball icon. The official town resolution suggests that the town aims to pay tribute to Curry, who wore jersey No. 30, by renaming the interchange at exit 30.
Stephen Curry spent his collegiate basketball career at Davidson College, where he was distinguished as a consensus first-team All-American. Since his entry into the NBA with the Golden State Warriors in 2009, he’s established himself as one of the league’s premier shooters, particularly noted for his exceptional three-point shooting skills. His illustrious NBA journey includes four NBA championships to date.
The Town of Davidson is scheduled to cast their vote on this proposal on Oct. 24. Should the proposal receive approval, the next step would involve liaising with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to formalize the renaming of the interchange.
