A slow-moving cold front is drenching the Carolinas this week and even brought rare April snowfall to Mt. Mitchell this afternoon.
A webcam managed by the North Carolina High Peaks Trail Association captured snow falling at 6,000 feet, the highest peak east of the Mississippi.

The system is expected to bring over an inch of rain to Charlotte through Friday, with scattered thunderstorms possible through the evening.
A stray shower could return Saturday as the system moves out.
