Charlotte’s new professional women’s soccer team, Carolina Ascent FC, is set to make its debut this weekend.
As the city’s only professional women’s team, they will play in the USL Super League, a newly established Division One women’s soccer league featuring eight cities across the country.
The home opener is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, at 7 p.m. at American Legion Memorial Stadium. Gates will open at 5 pm for season ticket holders and 5:30 pm for the general public.
Ahead of the match, fans can attend the “Basecamp Bash,” a free event at Independence Park from 3 to 6 p.m. The bash will feature food trucks, drinks, a rock climbing wall, and obstacle courses. Fans are invited to march to the stadium after the festivities to cheer on Carolina Ascent FC as they take the pitch for the first time.
