The highly anticipated Iron District project just announced plans to launch their first phase of construction on the former Charlotte Pipe & Foundry site between Uptown Charlotte and South End.
Trammell Crow will be leading the development of initial 12 acres (out of the Iron District’s total 55.5-acre area).
The initial phase will include 500 residential units, a 150-room hotel, 100,000 square feet of retail space, 150,000 square feet of office space, and over 1,200 parking spaces.
Construction is expected to start sometime in the next few months.

The site was once considered a potential location for a new Carolina Panthers stadium, but the team has opted for a renovation of Bank of America Stadium.
Blumenthal Arts has already started converting the former Charlotte Pipe warehouse into an event space for its Blume Studios arm.
