Boom Supersonic officially opened its North Carolina Overture Superfactory, a first-of-its-kind facility. The new Overture aircraft will fly twice as fast as today’s commercial planes.
Founder and CEO Blake Scholl said the company plans to build 33 jets annually at the new facility. Boom already plans to expand with additional manufacturing lines, potentially tripling its current footprint.

The completed 180,000-square-foot building contains 10,000 cubic yards of concrete, 1,700 tons of structural steel, 12 miles of electrical cable, and 4.5 acres of wall panels, according to BE&K President and CEO Frank Holley.
The Overture factory marks a major milestone in supersonic air travel, offering faster, more affordable, and sustainable flights. This development aims to revolutionize how we connect globally and conduct business.
This new groundbreaking facility just adds to North Carolina’s long history of aviation breakthroughs – maybe we should now change our state motto to “First in Supersonic Flight.”
