Charlotte is about to open a massive new first-of-its-kind immersive art facility on the edge of Uptown – Blume Studios.

Located in the heart of what will soon be known as Charlotte’s ‘Iron District’, Blume Studios is being built inside the old Charlotte Pipe and Foundry, which operated on the site for over 100 years.

Blumenthal Arts plans on using the new facility to position Charlotte as national leaders in immersive arts, building on the success of the record-breaking Immersive Van Gogh exhibit, which sold over 300,000 tickets between 2021 and 2022.

Kicking off Blume Studios’ programming is “Space Explorers: The Infinite,” a virtual reality experience set aboard the International Space Station. The event runs from September 20 to November 10 in the former Charlotte Pipe and Foundry warehouse.

Tickets are now on sale for $29.95 here.

Blume Studios events are also part of the Charlotte International Arts Festival, taking place across the city from Uptown to Ballantyne from September 13 to 29. Events at Blume Studios will continue even after the festival concludes.

As an anchor of Charlotte’s Iron District, Blume Studios occupies a 55.5-acre site near Uptown and South End, currently home to Charlotte Pipe and Foundry.

While Blumenthal is leasing the warehouse, the land is still for sale, with future plans for a mixed-use district featuring restaurants, artist studios, and shops once the sale is finalized and Charlotte Pipe relocates to Stanly County.
