Budget carrier Avelo Airlines just announced a major expansion at the Concord Airport where they will be officially establishing their home base.

As part of its expansion, Avelo will create 50 new jobs, encompassing roles for pilots, flight attendants, ground staff, and customer service representatives.

“Our Queen City Customers tell us they have loved flying Avelo since we took flight at USA six months ago. The fast and easy, small hometown airport experience Charlotte-Concord Airport offers is a relaxing alternative to CLT. Our nine nonstop destinations are just the beginning,” said Avelo CEO CEO Andrew Levy in a press release. “Avelo’s new Charlotte base will enable us to bring more affordable, convenient and industry-leading reliability to even more destinations — while also creating more jobs and economic opportunity for the region. We appreciate the warm reception Avelo has received, and we look forward to bolstering our presence in this vibrant fast-growing community with the opening of Avelo’s new base here early next year.”

Avelo will now offer the following routes out of Concord as an alternative to flights from the Charlotte Douglas airport:

  • Albany International Airport (Albany, NY): Flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (Manchester, NH): Flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Bradley International Airport (Hartford, CT): Flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Lakeland Linder International Airport (Lakeland/Orlando, FL): Flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Wilmington Airport (Philadelphia, PA/Wilmington, DE): Flights on Mondays and Fridays.
  • Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (Rochester, NY): Flights on Mondays and Fridays.
  • Daytona Beach International Airport (Daytona Beach, FL): Starting April 3, 2025, flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
  • Nashville International Airport (Nashville, TN): Starting April 3, 2025, flights on Thursdays and Sundays.

Launched in April 2021, Avelo Airlines, based in Houston, focuses on serving smaller airports and underserved communities across the United States, with 47 destinations in 23 states and Puerto Rico.

The establishment of Avelo’s base at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport follows recent improvements at the airport, including a $12.6 million terminal expansion unveiled by the City of Concord.
