Charlotte is now bracing for severe thunderstorms today, with the greatest risk expected between 4 and 7 pm this evening.
Damaging winds over 60 mph, quarter-sized hail, and tornadoes are possible, both in the main storm line and in any potential isolated thunderstorm cells the main line spins up.
Winds may down trees and power lines. Storms are expected to move west to east across the region, with mostly cloudy skies and dry conditions until the afternoon.
Conditions will clear overnight with lows near 50. Sunshine returns Tuesday with highs in the low 70s. Wednesday will be cloudy with a chance of showers. Temperatures will rise into the 80s Thursday, pushing near 90 by Friday and Saturday.
