- North Carolina is among the states with the highest risk of natural disasters, with 51,277 wildfires reported over 13 years.
- Texas is the most dangerous state for natural disasters, with 1,774 tornado incidents recorded between 2008 and 2023.
- With the highest number of wildfires in the U.S. at 101,760 over 13 years, California ranks as the second most disaster-prone state.
A new study by DJC examines the most dangerous U.S. states for natural disasters, with key factors such as the frequency of wildfires, tornadoes, and floods being analyzed. Data was sourced from governmental reports, including historical records of wildfires, tornado occurrences, and flood events, to calculate the likelihood of each disaster type in every state.
These probabilities were combined to determine the overall natural disaster risk for each state, with higher probabilities indicating greater vulnerability.
