Last week, a similar animal escape occurred in South Carolina when 40 monkeys fled from a research facility. Authorities used traps and thermal imaging to locate the monkeys and urged residents to secure their homes.
In light of the current situation, Horry County officials have issued similar warnings regarding the escaped emus, asking people to contact 911 if they see the birds and avoid approaching them.
