Searches for “what would happen if aliens came to earth” have surged by a mind-blowing 2,850% in recent months, following the release of the first ever police handbook on UFOs.

Belief in extraterrestrial life is on the rise, with nearly two-thirds of Americans now convinced that aliens exist. In fact, 34% in the US now believe UFOs are proof of alien life – up from just 20% in 1996.

So which states would survive the longest if aliens actually invaded?

Factoring in the number of UFO sightings, natural hiding spots like forest and caves, per capita military, law enforcement, scientists, engineers, healthcare workers, and the number of food and beverage manufacturers, the Carolinas land on either end of the spectrum.

South Carolina ranks as the eighth least prepared state for an alien invasion, with a survival score of 6.52/10. The state experiences long UFO visit durations averaging 15.06 minutes, suggesting it’s already a place of interest to extraterrestrial beings. South Carolina has a scant water coverage (0.06%) indicating residents may struggle accessing this essential resource. The situation is further exacerbated by the low number of scientists, with only 2.58 per capita, limiting the ability to respond, and make sense of potential alien encounters.

North Carolina, on the other hand, ranks as the 8th best state to survive the invaders.
