Panthers Fall to 1-7 After Surprising Loss To Denver Broncos

The Carolina Panthers started their game against the Denver Broncos with promise, taking an early 7-0 lead, but it quickly slipped away as they ended up losing 28-14. Led by quarterback Bryce Young, who started due to Andy Dalton’s thumb injury, the Panthers marched down the field efficiently on their first drive. Young completed all five of his passes for 39 yards, connecting with Xavier Legette for an early touchdown. Unfortunately, that early energy faded, and the Panthers couldn’t keep up with the Broncos’ counterattack.

After a strong first series, the Panthers’ defense, featuring the return of key players A’Shawn Robinson, Jadeveon Clowney, and Josey Jewell, forced an early turnover. Shy Tuttle recovered a fumble, setting a positive tone. However, Denver’s rookie quarterback Bo Nix took control of the game, throwing for 220 yards and two touchdowns in the first half alone, ultimately finishing with 284 yards and three touchdowns. The Broncos built a commanding lead, which they maintained throughout the game.

Young ended the game 24-of-37 for 224 yards with two touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions. Jalen Coker was a bright spot on offense, collecting four catches for 78 yards and a touchdown in a game that missed veteran wideouts Diontae Johnson and Adam Thielen. Injuries continued to plague the Panthers, with DJ Johnson, Feleipe Franks, and Ikem Ekwonu all suffering setbacks during the game.

The loss leaves Carolina at 1-7, as they continue to grapple with defensive gaps and offensive struggles this season.

The Panthers will now face the Saints this coming Sunday in Charlotte starting at 1pm.
