Freedom Fighting Missionaries (FFM), a Charlotte-based reentry organization that has garnered national attention for its groundbreaking programs and funding, is thrilled to announce their partnership with Just Do It Movement and their upcoming fifth annual Back to School giveaway event.

Recently, Freedom Fighting Missionaries announced its support of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, a program that ensures children and youth experiencing homelessness receive education, regardless of various enrollment barriers. Through extensive research, Freedom Fighting Missionaries learned that over 5,400 children are currently enrolled in the program and most have parents or caregivers whose barrier to safe housing and upward mobility is due to a past conviction.

During the upcoming Back to School event, Freedom Fighting Missionaries will support over 50 children with a new pair of shoes, hairstyles and haircuts, food and supplies for the new year of school. The event will take place along the Corridors of Opportunity on Sunday, August 25th from 12 p.m. to 4 pm located at Just For You Barber Styling Academy, 5108-5 Reagan Dr., Charlotte.

This event marks the fifth year for the annual event and includes other area businesses and community partners such as Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office, Another Chance and A Giving Heart Project. In the past, over 1,500 students and families have been supported with supplies and resources. The event is free and open to the public and is exclusively open to children experiencing housing insecurities and hardships. FFM is accepting event sponsors and volunteers and are requested to visit JDIMovement.org for more information.
