Charlotte is currently in the midst of a 50 year rain event with almost 5″ of rain having already fallen in North Charlotte as of noon.

Numerous roads, parks, and streams throughout Charlotte are already flooding.

By 11 a.m., nearly 99,000 power outages were reported across North and South Carolina, with around 20,000 in Mecklenburg County. In Gaston County, more than 4,000 residents were without power, according to Duke Energy’s outage map.
