Kings Mountain CasinoToday the Catawba Nation will break ground on their $700 million Two Kings Kings Mountain casino about 40 minutes west of Charlotte.

They first opened their slot machine-only pre-launch facility in 2021. The project then stalled due to a lawsuit between the Catawba Nation and the former casino developer. In May, the Catawba Nation settled with Sky Boat Gaming, allowing the project to proceed.

The casino will now move forward in two phases, with the first phase expected to finish by early 2026.

“With the overwhelming success of the Catawba Two Kings Casino’s pre-launch facility since opening, it makes sense to work as quickly as possible to provide additional gaming opportunities for our patrons across the Charlotte region,” commented Catawba Nation Gaming Authority president Mike Ulizio.

Once complete, the 195,000-square-foot Kings Mountain casino will feature 1,796 electronic gaming devices, 54 table games, a 1,500-room hotel, multiple restaurants, and a concert venue. The finished casino will create at least 2,000 new jobs.
