An active shooter and hostage situation occurred early this morning in Gastonia near the intersection Crowder Creek Road and Chrisco Lane, ending in one person dead and one suspect in custody.
The Gastonia Police Department had to deploy their SWAT team to secure the area following reports of gunfire.
Authorities have confirmed the scene is now secure and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
