Bank of America has alerted customers to a potential data breach at Infosys McCamish Systems LLC (IMS), a provider of deferred compensation plan services.
According to IMS, the breach may have exposed personal information of over 57,000 individuals, including names and Social Security Numbers. The incident, linked to an external system hack, was further highlighted when the LockBit ransomware gang listed IMS on its data leak site shortly after the breach.
In response, Bank of America is offering affected customers a two-year subscription to Experian IdentityWorks for identity theft protection.
Customers are advised to monitor their credit reports and bank statements for any unauthorized activity and report potential identity theft to their financial institutions.
Enrollment details for the protection service have been provided to impacted individuals.
