Charlotte Motor Speedway Transforms Into World of Wonder with Cirque du Soleil’s BAZZAR

The holiday season just got brighter as Cirque du Soleil’s captivating and vibrant BAZZAR, premiered under the Big Top at North Carolina’s iconic Charlotte Motor Speedway. Last  night’s premiere kicks off a 4-week run that takes audiences on an awe-inspiring journey filled with quirky  characters, kaleidoscopic costumes, energetic music, and the captivating storytelling synonymous with  Cirque du Soleil. 

More than 2,300 of the Queen City’s finest walked the red carpet and reveled in the excitement under the Cirque du Soleil Big Top as they were greeted with welcome drinks, fresh popcorn, and other festivities. Notable attendees included Kyle Busch, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Tim Cindric. 

“There’s no better gift than spreading joy and transporting audiences to another world during this magical  time of the year!” says Johnny Kim, Artistic Director, Cirque du Soleil BAZZAR. “In BAZZAR, we’ve crafted a universe where joy knows no bounds. Celebrating the holidays with audiences in The Queen City is an  experience like no other, and the entire tour is thrilled to be here.” 

Before the show opened, BAZZAR artists celebrated the return of Cirque du Soleil under the Big Top in North Carolina for the first time in over a decade by getting into the holiday spirit inside the brilliant light  display at Speedway Christmas. 

ABOUT CIRQUE DU SOLEIL BAZZAR: Cirque du Soleil BAZZAR, an ode to the bold spirit of Cirque du  Soleil’s origins, marks a new chapter in the traveling troupe’s storied history. BAZZAR features an eclectic  lab of infinite creativity where a joyful troupe of acrobats, dancers and musicians craft an awe-inspiring  spectacle. Led by their maestro, they band together to invent a whimsical one-of-a-kind universe. The high energy excitement, collision of sounds and colors and meeting place of diverse characters you’d find at a traditional bazaar, Cirque du Soleil BAZZAR perfectly captures that spirit. 

Created in 2018, BAZZAR is Cirque du Soleil’s 43rd original production. In addition to 12 show-stopping  circus acts including Teeterboard, Acro Bike, Trapeze, Fire Manipulation and Hair Hanging, the show also  features Mallakhamb – a traditional Indian sport that combines aerial yoga and gymnastics – a Cirque du Soleil first. Before arriving in the United States, BAZZAR amazed over 750,000 people in 14 countries including Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, and Dominican Republic.
