The Northlake Mall has been on the decline for years, but today’s announcement signals a true turning point in Charlotte’s once dominant shopping icon.

Spirit Halloween is now open at the Northlake Mall.

After years of Spirit Halloween’s increasing takeover of closed strip malls and former big box powerhouses like Macy’s, Toys R’ Us, Circuit City – the store has become synonymous with Retail Apocalypse and now inspires countless internet memes.

The mall made the announcement on Instagram showing the store’s new logo and some inside shots:

This unveiling follows the departure of notable brands from the mall, such as the Apple Store, Michael Kors, and Buckle. As of now, Northlake Mall boasts an occupancy rate of 85%, including pop-up stores. This is a notable increase from 74% recorded last February, as per recent documents from the North Carolina Business Court.
