Former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory just received approval for his new political party to be officially recognized in the State of North Carolina.

Yesterday, the State Board of Elections in North Carolina cast their vote to officially acknowledge the No Labels Party as a recognized political entity.

Here’s a video of our former Mayor talking about what his new party is all about:

This endorsement of No Labels offers voters an additional party affiliation option during registration or the updating of their existing registration. Now, voters may align themselves with the Democratic, Green, Libertarian, No Labels, or Republican parties, or remain unaffiliated.

No Labels fulfilled the criteria to become an official political party, having gathered 14,837 legitimate signatures from registered N.C. voters. This count was 932 more than the required 13,865 signatures on its petition. These signatures were authenticated by the election boards in the respective counties where they were obtained. Furthermore, No Labels met the condition of collecting at least 200 signatures from three distinct congressional districts, a specification under N.C.G.S. § 163-96(a)(2) for the creation of a new political party.

The decision was made at the State Board meeting in Concord on Sunday, coinciding with the Summer 2023 Elections Conference. As mandated by N.C.G.S. § 163-82.24, this event assembles State Board staff, county election officials, and numerous county boards of elections members for education on vital election administration matters.

Voters who are presently affiliated with another political party or who are unaffiliated may choose to shift their affiliation to No Labels. For details on executing this change, refer to the section on Updating Registration.

Until the No Labels option is included in the voter registration forms, individuals can register with this party by marking the “Other” box and handwriting “No Labels” in the “Political Party Affiliation” section on the voter registration application. Adjustments to party affiliation choices through the Division of Motor Vehicles’ online registration portal will be implemented at the earliest opportunity.

The State Board will promptly incorporate No Labels registrants in the voter data.
