Today is a potential record setter for severe summer weather around the Charlotte region.
The National Weather Service just issued to major warnings for local residents – a severe thunderstorm outlook with a tornado watch along with a dangerous heat advisory.

Duke Energy even emailed an alert to all Charlotte area customers this morning warning of possible power outages across our region.
They recommend having the following items handy in case of a power outage;
- Cash (ATMs may not work)
- Car charger for cell phones and other devices
- Clean drinking water (recommended 1 gallon per person per day, minimum three days)
- Flashlights
- Batteries: Extra batteries for all of your devices
- Weather radio/clock
- Non-perishable food
- First aid kit
According to Weather Underground, Charlotte should see the worst of the storm from roughly 5pm – 7pm this evening.
