The Carolina Panthers have just signed a historic 4-year extension contract with star running back Christian McCaffrey. The $64 million contract averages $16/year and officially makes McCaffrey the highest paid running back in the history of the NFL.
This past season, McCaffrey had one of the best seasons any NFL running back has ever had, becoming just the third player ever to rack up 1,000 yards in both rushing and receiving. He also became the first player in history to be named All-Pro at 2 different positions.
“I think Christian McCaffrey is a centerpiece player that you can build around,” Head Coach Matt Rhule commented last week. “And I think he really builds to the culture that you want to have within the building.”
